Characteristic Classes

Kurzbeschreibung |
The definition of characteristic classes in cohomology theory: homotopy, singular, sheaf and deRham cohomology. Chern classes for complex vector bundles and Stiefel-Whithney and Pontrjagin classes for real vector bundles. Applications to topology, geometry and analysis will be considered especially in the context of manifolds. This is roughly a continuation of the course on "Fibre Bundles and Sheaves“. |
