Collaborative Research Centres

Collaborative Research Centres (CRCs) are long-term university research centres that enable scientists and researchers to work within an outstanding, cross-disciplinary research programme. They can last up to 12 years.
Transregional Collaborative Research Centres are based at two or three university locations and offer an alternative to the traditional funding scheme for CRCs.

Research Training Groups

Research Training Groups are characterised by a structured teaching programme and the inclusion of a demanding and interdisciplinary field of research. The funding covers a period of up to nine years.

Research Units

Research Units are made up of a team of outstanding researchers working together on intensive, medium-term (generally six years) research projects.

Priority Programmes

Priority Programmes are specifically characterised by the nationwide cooperation between participating researchers. Through collaborative networked support over several locations Priority Programmes advance knowledge in an emerging field of research.
