With a student population of 21000, Leibniz Universität Hannover is one of the largest institutions of higher education in Lower Saxony. It offers around 75 degree courses ranging from the fields of natural and engineering sciences, law, business studies and economics, the arts, humanities, to the social sciences and education.

Equal Opportunities Award

For the third time in a row Leibniz Universität Hannover has been chosen to receive the Total E-Quality award for its gender equality projects. The jury praised the areas of research, teaching and studies in particular as being especially positive.

Record Third-party Funds Raised

In 2008 the Leibniz Universität Hannover was more successful than ever in raising funds from public and private facilities: third-party funding reached a record value of 80 million euros.

Small Pores, Great Effect

A project at the PZH Production Technology Centre handles ‘Magnesium sponges as bio-resorbable implants’. Scientists are working on this topic within the special research sector 599.
