How to Reach Leibniz Universität in Hannover

Arrival by Car

From the north

Leave the motorway A7 at the “Dreieck Hannover-Nord” for direction “Hannover-Nord/Dortmund (A352). Follow the A352 merge to the A2. Leave at the exit “Herrenhausen/Zentrum” to the B6 (Westschnellweg). Continue as described under “from the east and west”.

From the east and west

Arrival by car proceeds via motorway A2. Exit the motorway at “Herrenhausen/Zentrum” which leads over to the B6 (Westschnellweg). Turn left after approx. 8km at the crossing controlled by traffic lights into Bremer Damm toward City Centre. After approximately 2km this expressway terminates at Königsworther Platz. You will be facing the Continental high-rise building of the university location called Königsworther Platz diagonally on your right hand side. To get to the main university and other locations take a sharp turn left into Nienburger Straße (toward Herrenhäuser Gärten). After about 300m you will see the Welfenschloss (main building) and parking facilities on your right. If you continue on this road you will get to the university locations of Schneiderberg (where you will also find the refectory / Mensa), Herrenhausen and Berggarten.

From the south

If you are approaching the university from the south on the A7 motorway, take the exit signposting “Hannover Süd” toward “Messe” on the B6 (Messeschnellweg). After passing the trade-fair premises, turn into the B65 (Südschnellweg) toward City Centre. Exit the expressway at “Zentrum” and turn right at the next set of traffic lights into Hildesheimer Straße. Hildesheimer Straße ends at the City Ring, into which you turn left toward “Universität / Herrenhäuser Gärten”. You will be guided to Königsworther Platz via Aegidientorplatz, Friedrichswall, Leibnizufer, Brühlstraße. On your right-hand side you will then see the Continental high-rise building of the university location called Königsworther Platz. To arrive at the main university and other locations drive straight ahead across Königsworther Platz into Nienburger Straße (toward Herrenhäuser Gärten). After about 300m you will see the Welfenschloss (main building) and parking facilities on your right. If you continue on this road you will get to the university locations of Schneiderberg (where you will also find the refectory / Mensa), Herrenhausen and Berggarten.

Arrival by Public Transport

To get to the main university building, ride until you reach the stop called "Leibniz Universität". You will see the the Welfenschloss (main building) in front of you.

You will arrive at the Continental high-rise building in the university area of “Königsworther Platz” upon descending at the stop called "Königsworther Platz", at the university area “Schneiderberg” (including the refectory / Mensa) upon descending at the stop called "Schneiderberg", the Herrenhausen area upon descending at the stops called "Appelstraße" and "Herrenhäuser Gärten" and at the Berggarten area at the stop called "Schaumburgstraße".

Arrival by Plane

From Hannover airport in Langenhagen, take the „S-Bahn“ no. 5 to the main station. You can follow the directions under “arrival by public transport” from there.
