...that make studying easier

Let us introduce some useful tools that will help you go through your studies, research and documentation.
Most tools also work online, which means that you can edit and work out material with your fellow students. You can work contemporaneous or time-delayed, at the same location or at different places. No boundaries for your needs!

Corresponding tools are used in many companies nowadays, so to make yourself familiar with these tools will help you lateron.

Learning by heart

Not everyone likes learning by heart. In order to make it more comfortable to organise it, we provide the following tools for you:

  • Cobocards is a tool to create indexcards to share or use alone
  • Blitzcards create index cards for free and check out published cards of fellow students
  • Vokker is a free webbased vocabulary trainer
  • Phase 6 is a commercialised and multifunctional vocabulray trainer

Documentation

During your studies you will have to prepare presentations and reports. The following tools will help you to work localy- and system-independent (meaning it does not matter wether you work with Apple, Windows or Linux):

  • OpenOffice offers free text and table editing, presentation software, a simple grafic software and a data base programm for all current operating software.
  • Google Text & Tabellen Text and Tables makes an online text editing possible. Perfect if you want to co-work with your fellow students on one document.
  • Jing allows you to take a picture or video of your desktop and share it.
  • Wikis provides an easy way to build a website. No knowledge about programming is necessary, only a few commands are needed. Wikis can be used as appendixes or continuous minutes. A Wiki can be integrate into every Stud.IP class or is acceess free via Wikidot frei verfĂźgbar.

Organisation

To manage your studies and not forget any appointment or deadline is quite a challange. The following tools will help you organise your duties:

  • with Doodle you will find a well-arranged way to communicate appointements only a few mouse clicks away. Each participant recieves an email with a link to your personal Doodle date.
  • Remember The Milk lets you take notes and connects it with meetings or deadlines. It also connect with other people and works with many tools like Thunderbird, Outlook, Android Phones or iPhone.
  • Dipity is tool to create online timelines. Those virtual and clear time bars support you for example with projects or essays that have to be organised over a longer time period.

Publishing

Done with your studies and all your written work? Don‘t let your papers get dusty in a bookshelf, let them help others that are interested in the topic! There are several ways to publish it online:

  • Diplomarbeiten.de or Dissonline give you the possibility to earn money with your research papers. Also the TIB/UB offers to publish diditally fulfilling the requirements of promotion regulations.
  • Slideshare enables you to share Slideshows like Powerpoint, Keynote, PDF or Word.
  • Podcasts (audio- or videofiles) can be published via YouTube. The Leibniz Universität Hannover Flowcast portal is in progress, but you can fetch some Podcasts at iTunes U.
  • Evalutions Sheets of different systems can be created and answered online or on paper. Leibniz Universität Hannover provides the EvaSys via the Leibniz Universität IT Services. SurveyMonkey is an alternative software which also analyses your results.

Collection

A whole mountain of ideas, literature and questions is usually the beginning of paper. The following tools will help you structure and organise your work and optimise your work with other students:

  • MindMeister or Mind42 are based on the mind-mapping concept. Each single branch can be rearranged and added with new information. Perfectly done for online-collaboration.
  • Delicious makes social bookmarking even easier. Collect weblinks, save them and most importantly: share them. Usefull for all weblink collection concerning your studies.
  • Scribblar is a multiuser-whiteboard, that can be written on by different people at different locations at the same time. Additionally a chat is provided to share your ideas and discuss.
  • dimdim enables you to share a white-board in a webconference or even share your attendees desktop.
