Part-time Study
In a meeting on 20.06.2007, Leibniz UniversitÀt Hannover's Senate decided to supplement the enrolment regulations governing the registration for courses that have been designated by the faculties as being suitable for part-time study.
Excerpt from the enrolment regulations from Leibniz UniversitÀt Hannover's Announcement Bulletin 05/2007 dated 02.07.2007:
§ 10 part-time study
(1) Based on an application, students can be enrolled for part-time study if the responsible faculty board has established that the selected degree is suitable as a part-time course. In part-time courses, only half the credits stated in the examination regulations can be attained.
(2) The application must be submitted to the registration office by the end of the re-registration deadline and applies for one semester.
(3) Part-time study is not permitted during the processing of diploma theses, theses, Bachelor theses or any other dissertations.
(4) A parallel or double-major course is not possible in a part-time process.
After receiving statements from the faculties, the university presidium has agreed to start the pilot project with some courses from the faculty of mathematics and physics and some from the faculty of philosophy.
The following courses are participating in the pilot project:

The Bachelor's degree courses in mathematics, meteorology and physics; but not in the first and second semester.

The Master's degree courses for mathematics, physics, technical physics and meteorology; but not in the third and fourth semester.

The Bachelor's degree courses for social science, political science, computer science, technical informatics.

The Master degree course for computer science.
Part-time study is not allowed during the semester in which the thesis is completed (see § 10 of the enrolment regulations).
Part-time study in courses designed as full-time courses is possible,

if the application for part-time study listed below is submitted on time before the re-registration deadline and

the semester fees totalling 322,21 Euros (full administrative costs- AStA- and student services fee) and 250 Euros study fees or 300 / 350 / 400 Euros long-term study fees have been received on the account of Leibniz UniversitÀt Hannover.

The part-time study has no legal entitlement to the provision of special teaching sessions or courses, i.e. you are responsible for the organisation / coordination of your degree. We urgently recommend that you consult people in the respective faculty and draw up your own study plan.

As stated in the Lower Saxony University and College Act (NHG), only a maximum of half the credits stated in the examination regulations may be attained during the part-time study period. This is either established by the faculty or by the examination office by checking the examinations for which you can register.

The student is not entitled to BAföG (Federal Training Assistance Act) funding during the part-time study period.
It should also be clarified how the semesters in the part-time courses are counted when calculating the prescribed length of study.
The application for part-time study is only valid for one semester.
