From everyday language to baroque tragedy and modern media, the heart of the subject is the written and spoken word. German Studies covers a very wide field. Apart from epic, lyric and dramatic texts, possible areas of study in German Literature and Linguistics include everyday texts such as newspaper advertisements, news tickers, television on public transport and journalism as well as audiovisual media, film, theatre, comics or computer games, for example, and the spoken language.
