The everyday working areas of geoscientists lie literally at their feet, for here are the soils, sediments and crystalline rocks that they investigate using the most modern scientific methods. From this they can for instance find ways to exploit the earth in an environmentally-friendly way, or work on ways of replacing substances that endanger the environment and develop new mineral materials.
