Mathematics – Research into the Basics and Modern Applications

In mathematics, fundamental research and application are strongly combined as in few other subjects. The master’s programme builds on the undergraduate courses in both pure and applied mathematics. In addition, students specialise in one of the research areas represented at the faculty: algebra, number theory, discrete mathematics, algebraic geometry, analysis, applied analysis, differential geometry, numerical analysis, stochastics or insurance and finance mathematics. The master’s degree is research oriented; applications are included where appropriate to the specialisation. A master’s degree programme in Hannover offers a wide range of options.
