Profile of Degree Courses

The Bachelor’s degree offers a solid foundation for entry into a profession as well as for the research-oriented Master’s degree.

Course Length

  • Prescribed length of study: 6 semesters

Course Content

The Bachelor’s degree offers a solid foundation for entry into a profession as well as for the research-oriented Master’s degree. It starts by teaching the common basics of mathematics, physics and meteorology. To give first semester students an optimal start, we offer a mathematics preparatory course in the week before the semester begins. This is open to all who wish to refresh their mathematics. In the specialisation phase of the degree students gain a deeper knowledge of applied meteorology, and especially synoptic meteorology (weather forecasting) as well as physics and mathematics.

Examination Regulations

Degree courses are subject to certain rules and regulations.
This is essentially a question of regulating the contents e.g. compulsory/ optional subjects, as well as providing information on examination procedures.

Practical Training

The bachelor’s course includes career-related work placements, as well as practical training in industry and research.

Study Abroad

A period abroad can significantly enrich your studies. For meteorology students there is a range of co-ordinated exchange programmes with partner universities in Europe and further overseas. An overview of the partner universities can be found online on the HochschulbĂĽro fĂĽr Internationales (International Office) web pages.
