Function

The ZEB was established by the management of the institutions of higher education mentioned above as the successor to the "Joint Central Biology Commission". Its members come from the Biology Committee of Study Affairs and the ZEB Directorate.

The directorate of the ZEB is formed by the three elected course advisers of each of the three institutions of higher education as members entitled to vote. The course adviser of Leibniz Universität Hannover is elected by the Faculty of Biology, the course advisers of the MHH and TiHo by the Senate of their respective institution of higher education.

The ZEB began its work on April 2002 after the nomination of al the members of the ZEB Council, which consists of equal numbers of members representing the status groups of the three institutions of higher education.
