Kurzbeschreibung

The subject philosophy is offered as one of two subjects within the Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Degree Programme. Please note the subject combination options.

Philosophy is a questioning science that grapples with issues of a general and fundamental nature. Examples of such questions include: What is real?; What is truth?; Under which conditions can we claim to know something (rather than simply believing that we know it)?; Do we, as people, have free will?; What constitutes good behaviour and how does it differ from behaviour that is wrong, unjust, immoral, and so on?; What obligations do we have towards other people?; What are natural laws?; How do explanations in individual disciplines work? Philosophers debate such questions and responses to them, and analyse the arguments for and against the potential responses. In line with the broad range of questions posed by philosophers, philosophy encompasses a multitude of areas such as metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, logic, philosophy of culture, social philosophy, political philosophy, philosophy of law, philosophy of religion, philosophy of science, and ethics.

Lehrinhalte
