Kurzbeschreibung

The subject chemistry is offered as one of two subjects within the Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Degree Programme. Please note the subject combination options.

Chemistry is life! Chemistry is a dynamic, exciting subject. Chemistry is everywhere around us – from the production of new materials to understanding biological systems, from the food we eat to the medication that keeps us healthy, from the quality of our drinking water to keeping the air we breathe clean.

The Interdisciplinary Bachelor''s programme and the Master’s Teacher Training Course for Grammar Schools primarily trains future teachers who want to teach this exciting subject professionally and motivated in vocational schools. In addition to the sound education in the classical subjects of chemistry, the subject didactics of chemistry takes a wide space and provides a good insight into all facets of "teaching and learning" for the subject of chemistry.

In particular, major challenges such as heterogeneous learning groups or digitally supported learning are addressed. With certain subject combinations, there is also the opportunity to qualify for the Master''s programme in Chemistry.

Lehrinhalte

  • Analytical chemistry
  • Didactics of chemistry
  • Inorganic chemistry
  • Organic chemistry
  • Physical chemistry
Studienverlauf

A key feature of chemistry courses is intensive practical training. Free and course-like internships account for about half of the study. An internship outside the university is not required for chemistry.

The exact course of studies depends heavily on the choice of the first or second subject. The following table is therefore to be understood as an example only.

semester Compulsory modules
1
  • General Chemistry 1
  • General Chemistry 2
  • Analytical Chemistry 1
  • Calculation Methods of Chemistry 1
  • Experimental Physics 1
2
  • Inorganic Chemistry 1
  • Physical Chemistry for Teaching1
  • Analytical Chemistry 2
  • Subject Didactics 1
3
  • Organic Chemistry 1
  • Inorganic Chemistry for Teaching 2
  • Instrumental methods 1
  • Subject Didactics 2
4
  • Physical Chemistry for Teaching 2
  • Organic Chemistry for Teaching 2
Empfohlene Fähigkeiten

For the study of chemistry in the interdisciplinary Bachelor's programme, scientific (especially physical) and mathematical basic knowledge is required. In addition, students should enjoy experimenting, should not be afraid of dealing with chemicals and should have a general amount of manual skills.

In addition, they should be able to coordinate a time-consuming study with their other interests.

Tätigkeitsfelder und Berufsmöglichkeiten

The Interdisciplinary Bachelor's programme qualifies for a transition to the master's programme for teaching at grammar schools or a purely scientific master's programme. The Bachelor also prepares students directly for demanding professional activities through its comprehensive qualifications and practical relevance.

Mögliche weiterführende Studiengänge

Under certain conditions, admission to the following Master''s programme is also possible. More detailed information can be found in the respective admission regulations. If you have any questions, please contact the course advice of the desired Master''s programme:

Other subjects are admission-free (Chemistry, Protestant Theology (school subject: Protestant Religious Education), Catholic Theology (school subject: Catholic Religious Education), Mathematics, Philosophy and Physics).

The exact admission requirements can be found in the admission regulation.

Note: The admission regulations reflect the legally prescribed subject combinations in the Master regulation of Lower Saxony.
All currently possible subject combinations can be found under "Combinations".
