Kurzbeschreibung

Art is offered as a second subject (or supplementary teaching subject) within the bachelor's programme Special Needs Education. As first subject Special Needs Education is studied. The first two semesters are reserved for the contents of the first subject. The courses of the second subject will be added by the third semester. The first subject, special education, is studied at Leibniz University of Hannover, the second subject, art, at the Braunschweig University of Fine Arts (HBK Braunschweig).

The focus of the second subject of art is the relationship between art and inclusion in art education practice as well as in artistic and design processes. The aim is to test and scientifically reflect on translation processes between art and special needs education contexts, be it a school, a support centers or other educational and cultural institutions. At the same time, work in multi-professional teams, as required in everyday educational life today, is trained.

Material testing and exercises are an opportunity for aesthetic experiments and individual and collective artistic processes, which provide an opportunity for exchange in presentations. The interaction between theory and practice creates fundamental design skills. By examining current and historical art as well as one's own artistic processes, the differentiation of perception is encouraged.

With regard to the possible fields of work after graduation, sensitivity in dealing with difference is developed and problematized: What does inclusion mean for art, art education and art in special needs education? And who is actually hindering whom here?
