Invitation to nominate to the Summer Research Program 2021 Online edition

The University of Guanajuato through the International office (Directorate of International Relations and Academic Collaboration) convenes to participate in the XXVI Summer of Science UG international 2021 (Online edition).

The XXVI Summer of Science UG will be carried out in a non-face-to-face mode, simplifying the participation process, and taking advantage of the technological tools offered by the University of Guanajuato. The objective of this program is to cultivate scientific vocations and contribute to the training of students to generate knowledge about the human being and their environment, through research projects; promoting collaborative work in an environment of creativity that recognizes the diversity of academic formations of the participants.

International students will join the XXVI Summer of Science UG in a team of local students from the University of Guanajuato to develop a research project led by a professor from the University of Guanajuato, for which it will be necessary and establish contact with the International office (Directorate of International Relations and Academic Collaboration, DRICA) and deliver an official application. Due to the virtual nature of the programme in this broadcast, no financial support will be granted.

Official application requirements for international students

  • Letter of application from the International office of the Institution of Higher Education (IES) of origin.
  • Letter of academic recommendation from a professor of the IES of origin.
  • Copy of the (unofficial) Academic transcript of records showing all subjects taken at the level at which the student is currently enrolled with a cumulative overall minimum average of 8.5 where 7 is the pass point and 10 is the maximum grade.
  • Curriculum Vitae (without evidentiary documents), the student should express the area or topic of research of choice.
  • Letter of motivation expressing the language in which the research will be carried out with date and digital signature of the student.

 Participation process for international students:

1. Students will be nominated by their respective International Offices in the IES of origin with all the documentary requirements mentioned prior to the email address: internacional@ugto.mx by March 19, 2021.

2. Once students have been shortlisted by the Directorate of International Relations and Academic Collaboration, they will be asked to register through the IntraUG platform to register for the selected project and answer the questionnaire of personal and academic data.

3. Only students who comply with step 1 and 2 of the process will be able to receive the acceptance letter to the XXVI Summer of Science UG international edition 2021 (virtual mode) from May 11, 2021.

4. Students who comply with the above process will have adhered to the characteristics of the XXVI Summer of Science UG and will only be able to carry out their research activities faithfully complying with the instructions they receive during the program from June 14 to July 28, 2021. All activities will be carried out in a non-face-to-face way, including the inauguration, an orientation session, as well as all academic research with the team by the professor of the University of Guanajuato whose objective is to present the results obtained in a virtual Congress that will be transmitted on the institutional electronic platforms.          

Congress

The participating teams will prepare the presentation of their results in a video with a maximum duration of 15 minutes. After the official closure, presentations will be disseminated on institutional platforms. Once the Congress is concluded, participants will be able to download their record of the IntraUG platform.
