Freigeist-Fellowships

The ‘Freigeist’ scheme by the Volkwagen Foundation (VolkswagenStiftung) is open to all disciplines and topics. The scheme mainly focusses on outstanding junior researchers, who wish to carry out research at the boundaries between established fields of research. The initiative offers freedom for creative thinking, whilst at the same time providing security for at least 5 years to establish a Junior Research Group. In the long-term, it provides the opportunity to establish a career within a scientific research organisation or university in Germany.
