Research Assistant (PhD Student, m/f/d) in Theoretical Physics

The Institute of Theoretical Physics invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant (PhD Student, m/f/d) in Theoretical Physics (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 75 %) starting February 1, 2022. The position is limited to three years, with the possibility of an extension.

Responsibilities and duties

The successful applicant is expected to support the research done within one of the ten research groups at the Institute, which are grouped into the four research areas Condensed Matter, Quantum Information, Quantum Optics and String Theory / Gravitation. There are no teaching obligations, but light teaching may be arranged. The aim is a PhD in Theoretical Physics.

The successful candidate must hold a scientific university degree in theoretical physics or mathematics. We are looking for working knowledge of and experience with research subjects in one of the four areas represented at the Institute. The selection of the candidate will be done jointly by representatives of the four research areas.
