Lottery (Random Selection) for Bachelor and Master programmes

For the winter semester 2019/2020, the lottery has taken place from

1st October - 11th October 2019.

Participation in the lottery is no longer possible for this winter semester.

INFORMATION ON THE LOTTERY


What is a lottery?

  • Should places of study become free again after the completion of the succession procedures, such places will be allocated by drawing lots.

Did I have to apply regularly to the Leibniz University Hannover to participate in the lottery?

  • No, all prospective students can participate in the lottery even if no application has been submitted beforehand. In order to participate in the lottery, a corresponding university entrance qualification is required.

For which degree programmes can I apply by lottery?

  • You can apply for any programme that takes part in the lottery. You can also apply by lottery for several degree programmes - however, only one application per programme is permitted.

When does the lottery take place?

  • Generally, the lottery takes place two weeks before lectures begin. For the winter semester, this means probably the end of September / beginning of October, the summer semester probably at the end of March / beginning of April. We will announce the exact date at this site as soon as possible.

How do I participate in the lottery?

  • Please use the online application portal. The link to the online application is only activated during the lottery period and will be deactivated after expiration. Before applying online, make sure that a working printer is connected to your computer. At the end of the online application you will receive a PDF-file. Print out the file (saving the document and printing it out later is not possible). Carefully read the information on the printout and review the items in the checklist. Then send all the documents required in the PDF to the Admissions Office, either by mail or drop them by in person.

When will I know if I have succeded with my application?

  • The Admissions Office will send you the admission notice as soon as possible after the lottery has been completed. Letters of rejection will not be sent. So if you do not get any notification, this means that you have not been drawn. The admission notice is not transferable to other persons.
