Individual Orientation Day for students with disabilities and health issues

Starting out into the as yet unknown world of higher education and university is exciting, given that it involves familiarisation with new structures and places. Some first-year students with disabilities or health issues find that the standard introductory sessions offered are inadequate for them, and do not provide answers to all of their specific questions. Or perhaps they are unable to fully attend such sessions.

To help such students get to know these new structures and find their way around quickly, we offer an Orientation Day before courses begin – not a big event, but individual familiarisation with the university.

Simply arrange an appointment with a student. He or she will then show you all of the places that are important at university, and how to get there. Here are some examples of the questions addressed:

  • Where will my lectures be held?
  • Where is the dining hall, and how do things work there?
  • Where can I find barrier-free access?

Whatever questions or uncertainties you may have, you will “explore” the university together.

If interested, please send an email to Christiane Stolz, the contact person for students with disabilities.

We are also there to help whenever questions arise throughout your time at university.
