COVID-19 vaccine – Registration for staff employed in higher education from 31 May

Dear colleagues,

On Tuesday, I have informed you that all members of staff employed in higher education are entitled to receive a COVID-19 vaccine with increased priority (as per section 4 article 1 (8) of the regulations governing immunisation against the coronavirus). Today, the Lower Saxony Ministry for Social Affairs, Health and Equality has confirmed/modified these provisions retrospectively. Therefore, higher education staff is counted among the third level within priority group 3 and can register for an appointment in vaccination centres from 31 May 2021.

This includes student assistants and academic assistants. Moreover, the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony has clarified today that members of lecturing staff are included in this prioritisation.

Please contact your facility manager or your head of institute in order to obtain a document confirming that you are employed at LUH. The template can be found here.

Further information on the process regarding appointments for priority group 3 can be found in the press release of the Ministry of Health of Lower Saxony (only available in German).

Yours sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Volker Epping
President
