COVID-19 vaccination

Dear colleagues,

Today, I would like to provide additional information regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.

As previously announced and as of today, priority group 3 will be opened for higher education staff on 31 May. This group also includes student assistants, academic assistants and members of lecturing staff. Therefore, higher education staff will be eligible to register for an appointment via the vaccination portal or via their GP from next week.

Moreover, we hope to receive vaccines for LUH members via the state of Lower Saxony, prospectively from 9 June. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Occupational Safety department and the Health Management team for tackling this challenge.

Since we will only receive a small amount of vaccines, the Presidential Board will be required to prioritise.

All dean''s offices as well as staff in leadership positions in central academic facilities and administrative departments are asked to provide a list of staff with required "customer contact" in professional contexts, if they would like to receive a vaccination.

Eligible members of staff include

  • employees working in laboratories, conducting long-term experiments or similar duties,
  • employees working in workshops,
  • couriers,
  • employees in building management, with contact during construction projects or similar duties.

Please note that the Occupational Safety department is not in a position to accommodate individual and proactive appointment requests from members of staff. All dean''s offices as well as staff in leadership positions in central academic facilities and administrative departments have been asked to provide information on requirements in their department.

Finally, I would like to inform you that a Medicare test centre located in the main cafeteria on Schneiderberg campus has been opened on 28 May 2021. This centre provides free antigen tests for all citizens. https://covid-testzentrum.de/hannover-uni/
