Get out and vote in the student elections

From 12 to 26 January 2026, all LUH students have the opportunity to elect student representatives to various university governance bodies.

All students at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) are being called upon to make use of their right to vote: online elections for student representatives to various university governance bodies will take place from 10 am on 12 January to 10 am on 26 January 2026. New members will be elected to the Student Body Council (Fachschaftsrat), the Student Council (Studentischer Rat, StuRa) and the Faculty Council (Fakultätsrat). International students will also be able to elect spokespeople to represent them.

The Student Body Council is made up entirely of students. It advocates on behalf of students within the specific faculty and appoints its members to represent it on committees and the Student Council.

The Faculty Council deals with important matters at the faculty level, including appointments, finances and other issues related to university policy. Two students per faculty are represented there.

The Student Council (StuRa) discusses current issues once a month. It is responsible for making decisions on matters concerning the student body and is made up of the appointed delegates from the faculties’ student body councils and directly elected students.
