The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodetic Science has received top marks for the acquisition of third-party funding for its research.

Top spots Germany-wide for Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering

The latest CHE University Ranking of Master's degree programmes is now online. This round evaluated the following Master's degree programmes offered at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH): Civil Engineering, Plant Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering.

In terms of the details of the programme, the Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology has placed among the top-ranking subjects thanks to its international orientation. The Environmental Engineering Master’s degree programme has achieved the same result in the category “degrees completed in an appropriate period of time”.

LUH’s Master’s programmes have performed particularly well in terms of research. For example, the acquisition of third-party funding was included in the ranking. Universities obtain this type of funding from funding bodies, foundations or companies, on top of their standard budgets. Together with TU Berlin, LUH has ranked first in Germany for third-party funding per researcher in Civil Engineering. And for Mechanical Engineering it has ranked second Germany-wide in this category. Both subjects have therefore placed within the uppermost group in the ranking, along with the Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Engineering Master’s degree programmes. These four subjects – Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Engineering – also placed among the highest-ranking programmes in the category “doctorates per professor”.

The CHE Master’s ranking has been published since 2015 and provides information on a total of 39 subjects. It is the most comprehensive ranking of Master's degree programmes in Germany.
