On Saturday, 1 August, thousands of little race ducks and creatively-designed big ducks will once again set sail on Lake Maschsee from 4 pm for the 15th NKR charity duck race, all in aid of a good cause. One hundred companies and organisations have created their own themed duck and are donating to the North German Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Donor Registry (NKR). As always, Leibniz University Hannover is taking part with its own big duck. This year, our duck has been transformed into a colourful, sparkling Niki de Saint Phalle duck. Why a Niki duck? Because LUH has recently opened a new venue on Niki de Saint Phalle Promenade, guided by the motto LEIBNIZ:MITTE – Knowledge in the city. The venue showcases science and research in the heart of the city, bringing them to life through a rotating programme of exhibitions and events.
Just a few steps away, the Niki duck is on display alongside 99 other big ducks in the Galeria window at Ernst-August-Platz where it is waiting for your vote in the beauty contest!
