Doctoral candidates can apply through the Fulbright Doctoral Program for a 4- to 6-month research stay at a US institution. The scholarship includes a monthly maintenance allowance of €2,400, family allowances where applicable, health and accident insurance, a fee-free Fulbright J-1 visa, participation in the Fulbright seminar, and access to the international Fulbright network.

Postdoctoral researchers and academic staff with a doctorate can apply for 3 to 9 months of research, teaching, or a combination of both in the US. Funding is available for stays during the 2027/28 academic year and includes a monthly maintenance allowance of €3,000, allowances for accompanying family members, health and accident insurance, a fee-free Fulbright J-1 visa, and access to the international Fulbright network.
The funding period runs from August 1, 2027 to May 31, 2028.
