Monthly Guided Tours of Leibniz Exhibition

Interested parties can discover Leibniz exhibits at “Welfenschloss” with an expert guide / registration for guided tour in June still possible

The university offers regular guided tours of the Leibniz Exhibition on the ground floor and in the atrium of the main building ("Lichthof"). The last guided tour before summer break will be on Friday 29 June 2018 at 16.30. In order to register for the tour, please call +49 511 762 5342 or send an email to kommunikation@uni-hannover.de. The guided tour is free of charge.

An important part of the exhibition, which was redesigned and updated in 2015, is dedicated to Mathematics and Physics, as well as to technical inventions of the universal genius, like the well-known calculating machines. Other parts focus on his work in humanities, law, economics, aesthetics, and politics. The extended Leibniz Exhibition comprises the Leibniz bust, two cabinets with original writings and high-quality manuscript copies. Since 1990, eleven major Leibniz exhibitions were shown in Germany and abroad. The exhibits have been on permanent display at the Hanoverian "Welfenschloss" since 2008. The exhibition was extended in 2011.

During the tour, which takes place on every last Friday of the month, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Erwin Stein presents the exhibits with interesting background facts. Professor Stein has initiated and developed the exhibition with the assistance of the Presidential Board of Leibniz University Hannover. Prior registration for the tours by phone or email is required.

                  last Friday of the month (28.9., 26.10., 30.11., at 16.30)

All interested parties are welcome to register for the guided tours. If you like, you can perform arithmetic operations at the replicas of the Leibniz calculation machines and retrace design principles from the 17th and 18th century. Apart from Professor Stein, there are other Leibniz experts available, especially for tours of the exhibits dedicated to humanities and cultural sciences. Guided group tours are available upon request.
