Virtual Support Programme for International Students

Press release from

International Office initiates "StayConnected"

What is the difference between "Ausgangssperre" and "Kontaktverbot"? Understanding subtle nuances can be a significant challenge for non-native speakers, who have only been living in Germany for a short while. The International Office of Leibniz University Hannover has established a "StayConnected" buddy programme for international students in need of support during the current situation, which facilitates virtual and digital exchange.

"StayConnected" brings together international and local students and focuses on answering questions and providing support during the coronavirus crisis. For this purpose, the buddies maintain contact via digital media - such as Skype or WhatsApp Call - answering questions, spending time with each other, learning languages or exchanging ideas on what to do during their time off.

International students of all semesters are welcome to register here: https://www.uni-hannover.de/de/studium/im-studium/international/internationale-studierende/betreuungsangebote/study-buddy/internationaler-buddy/

Students from Hannover interested in supporting international students can register here: https://www.uni-hannover.de/de/studium/im-studium/international/internationale-studierende/betreuungsangebote/study-buddy/local-buddy/

More than 4,600 international students are currently enrolled at LUH, including students from China, Tunesia, India and Iran. In addition, the LUH website provides comprehensive information and guidance on the coronavirus pandemic - both in German and English: https://www.uni-hannover.de/en/universitaet/aktuelles/corona/
