Strongly correlated electrons in low dimensions: From topology and Floquet engineering to non-equilibrium phases of matter
Many-body interactions have pronounced consequences in low-dimensional quantum systems and lead to collective phenomena such as superconductivity and the quantum Hall effect. Our research focusses both on developing methods (e.g., numerical tensor network methods) to treat correlations and on applying them to new physical problems. I will first discuss one specific example to illustrate this strategy, namely using tensor networks to study non-ergodic, topological systems at finite temperature. Thereafter, I will briefly touch on a wide range of topics such as Floquet engineering, 2d materials, and non-equilibrium phases of matter.
