Strategic Partnership: Leibniz University Hannover and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University

Due to the attack on Ukraine by Russia in violation of international law, the university is forced to suspend this cooperation. At its meeting on March 2, 2022, the Presidential Board decided to suspend all cooperation with Russia with immediate effect and until further notice. All activities with Russia, institutional and strategic links with Russian institutions, will be suspended until further notice. This concerns research and teaching. All joint visible activities such as workshops, conferences or similar meetings - including virtual ones - will be cancelled. New joint projects will not be started.

From 2013 to 2018, the project received funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF). Under the direction of the International Offices, both Universities agreed on the aims of their partnership. These concentrated equally on the areas of teaching, research and further education. For example, the main focus included establishing of double degrees, supporting and developing academic talent and bringing together researchers and projects. Five of the nine faculties of Leibniz University Hanover, as well as the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Special Languages (FSZ) and the International Office were involved in the strategic partnership programme.
