At its meeting on March 2, 2022, the Presidential Board decided to suspend all cooperation with Russia with immediate effect and until further notice. All activities with Russia, institutional and strategic links with Russian institutions, will be suspended until further notice. This concerns research and teaching. All joint visible activities such as workshops, conferences or similar meetings - including virtual ones - will be cancelled. New joint projects will not be started.

From 2013 to 2018, the project received funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF). Under the direction of the International Offices, both Universities agreed on the aims of their partnership. These concentrated equally on the areas of teaching, research and further education.
