The University Council at Leibniz University Hannover is represented by renowned personalities from economy, science and politics. The seven members of the University Council give advice to the Presidential Board and the Senate of the university on development and economic plans based on their rules of procedure (resolution of the University Council meeting on 16 December 2004). The University Council works like the supervisory board of a business. Each member of the University Council is elected for a term of three years.
The university shall benefit from their skills over the next years. Furthermore, the body is involved in the staffing of the Presidential Board. In accordance with the new Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG), each university must set up a council with representatives from social fields. The objective is to benefit from their skills and experience.
