In 1974, the newly established Faculty of Law began teaching in the premises at Hanomagstraße 8, which are no longer used by the university today. The distance to other university facilities soon proved to be problematic. It was not until 1995 that the faculty was able to move into the former Continental administration building at Königsworther Platz.

The building in Linden-Süd was built in 1921 as the administrative headquarters of Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG (Hanomag). It is located on a large site that has been developed and modified since 1835 by Egestorffsche Maschinenfabrik – later Hanomag.

With the widespread abandonment of production in the second half of the 20th century, spaces became available for other purposes. As a result, the architecture is varied, with older factory buildings juxtaposed with large retail outlets.
