Visiting Professorships

They strengthen the university’s research profile and contribute to the development of international courses and study programmes: to enhance its international competitiveness, Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) appoints professors from outside of Germany to visiting professorships. The appointments are made on an ad personam basis at the recommendation of the faculties. The internationally renowned researchers’ reputations and research focuses are expected to complement and strengthen the existing spectrum at LUH and generate new ideas for research and teaching. In general, the courses are taught on campus at the university; research is conducted together with colleagues at LUH and as part of national and international alliances. Cooperation agreements with the home universities mean that the appointees also become members of LUH.
