Universitätsprofessur (m/w/d) der BesGr. W3 NBesO für Sensorsysteme der Produktionstechnik

University Professorship (m/f/d) of Salary Scale W3 NBesO in Sensor Systems Production Technology

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a University Professorship (m/f/d) of Salary Scale W3 NBesO in Sensor Systems Production Technology starting as soon as possible.

The professorship entails the direction of the institute of the same name, representing the discipline in research and academic teaching. We appreciate applications of candidates who are noted experts in sensor systems and the corresponding production and integration technologies with profound work experience in the field of research and/or industrial development. The teaching tasks of future job holders include, inter alia, lectures held within the Bachelor and Master programme of the faculty and interdisciplinary study courses in micro and nanotechnology.

The research activities shall complement the faculty’s concentration on production technology. The institute’s well-equipped laboratory areas enable comprehensive modelling of the process chain needed for the development of sensor systems. An additional focus shall be on processes relevant for polymer-based substrate materials.

The questions in fundamental and application-oriented research can deal with topics ranging from the development of micro and sensor systems to sensor networks to data models. Further problems to be addressed include topics related to scale-independent production — the focus of the new research facility scale.

In particular, applicants should be willing to participate in coordinated interdisciplinary programmes, for example, within the scope of the aforementioned research facility as well as in Collaborative Research Centres, Research Units and Training Groups.

The successful candidate will be expected to hold selected courses in English.

General responsibilities and conditions of appointment apply, in accordance with the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz - NHG).

Part-time employment can be arranged upon request.

As an equal opportunities employer, Leibniz University Hannover has set itself the strategic aim of significantly increasing the proportion of women. Female scientists are therefore particularly encouraged to apply. Applications from abroad are especially welcome. Preference will be given to equally qualified candidates with disabilities.

In its mission statement, Leibniz University Hannover attaches great importance to the international orientation of teaching and research. At the same time, it places significant value on the intensive guidance and support of its students and on the university’s close ties to the region and to Lower Saxony. Its professors are thus expected to be based in the Hannover Region.

Successful candidates who have reached the age of fifty by the time of appointment and who do not already have civil servant status will generally be given an employment contract.
