Short Description
The Master’s in Sustainable Engineering is an innovative programme that will enable you to provide answers to the challenging questions of our time. Are you looking for a technical education, but are also interested in issues such as sustainability, resource conservation and green technology? Then why not join the Master’s programme in Sustainable Engineering? This degree will enable you to develop your knowledge of sustainable production methods in the manufacturing industry, the development of resilient and sufficient technical systems, and the shaping of the energy transition. An interdisciplinary cross-sectional area allows you to take modules from other related subject areas, such as law or geodesy.
By choosing the Master’s in Sustainable Engineering, you will join an interdisciplinary programme, unique among the TU9 universities, that broadens the perspective of engineering sciences to include sustainability issues. As a graduate, you will be in demand in the professional world as an expert in interdisciplinary, resource-efficient, innovative and sustainable solutions.

The course content of the Master’s programme in Sustainable Engineering consists of a compulsory area combined with compulsory elective and optional areas. In the compulsory area, you will take a total of four modules. You can then choose either a specialisation or several compulsory elective and optional areas. You will complete the compulsory modules in the first two semesters. In addition to the compulsory modules, you can take your first compulsory elective modules at the start of the course and continue to specialise in subsequent semesters. You can choose from three specialisations: Sustainable Production, Sustainable Systems Development, and Sustainable Energy Systems.
Your studies will also include field trips, a specialised internship and a student research project. The programme concludes with a Master’s thesis and its successful presentation, demonstrating your ability to work independently at a high scientific and technical level.

Your Master’s degree in Sustainable Engineering will open up a wide range of career opportunities in industry, research, local government engineering departments and other sustainability-related organisations, both nationally and internationally. As a stakeholder, you will manage business processes in development, construction design and production according to sustainability criteria and ensure sustainable production methods. You can, of course, also work towards a doctorate and a career in academia.

An undergraduate degree in a related field of study, such as
- Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor of Science)

- Sustainable Engineering (Bachelor of Science)
For master's degree programmes with unrestricted admission, all applicants who fulfil the admission requirements will be admitted a university place. The exact admission requirements can be found in the admission regulations:

First-year students from non-EU countries (VPD from uni-assist is required)
