30,196 Students Enrolled at Leibniz University Hannover in Winter Semester 2019/20

Number of students continues to rise

After nine years of continuous growth, LUH once again exceeded the previous year's figures in winter semester 2019/20. Currently, 30,196 students are enrolled at Leibniz University Hannover (excluding students on leave), compared to 29,781 in the previous year.

In the winter semester, 5,420 new students commenced a bachelor's degree programme or a state examination course at Leibniz University Hannover. 2,528 new students are enrolled in master's degree programmes. Overall, 7,948 new students were admitted.

Most new students are enrolled in the restricted degree programmes Economics and Management (586) and Law (429), followed by the unrestricted degree programmes Computer Science (414), Civil and Environmental Engineering (307), Mechanical Engineering (307), Philosophy (interdisciplinary bachelor's degree, 243), Special Needs Education (238), Engineering and Business Administration (228), and Mathematics (interdisciplinary bachelor's degree, 224).

The most popular master's degree programmes are Economics and Management (311), Mechanical Engineering (172), and Special Needs Education (163). With 278 admissions (261 in the previous year), LUH has seen a slight increase in the number of students commencing a Master's Teacher Training Course for Grammar Schools.

Approximately 4,608 international students are currently enrolled at Leibniz University Hannover. This significantly exceeds last year's peak (4,290). Most foreign nationals are from China (1,184), India (449), Syria (389), Iran (340), and Tunisia (333).
