A solid framework for equal opportunities and diversity: Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) has received another Total E-Quality Award as well as the "Add-on Diversity" for the years 2020-2022. Since 1996, the association Total E-Quality Deutschland e.V. has been acknowledging the efforts of businesses and organisations promoting gender-balanced working conditions.
According to the jury''s assessment, structures fostering diversity as well as equal opportunities for men and women have been established in the mission statement, while the Equal Opportunities Office actively promotes these objectives. In this context, the committee highlighted various measures such as participation in the Lower Saxony Dialogue Initiative "Geschlechtergerechte Hochschulkultur" (gender-balanced university culture), reducing the teaching workload of female professors involved in committees as well as appealing career prospects for women in STEM subjects.
In its statement, the jury also acknowledged that LUH received funding for its achievements in the field of equal opportunities within the scope of all three rounds of a programme promoting female professors. Moreover, the university received the award "Excellence in Equal Opportunities" and the certificate "audit family-friendly university". LUH also holds the hallmark for fair and transparent appointment negotiations awarded by the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (GAUPL). Overall, the university received top marks.
