INFORMATION SCIENCE LECTURE SERIES

Supra-Curricular Approaches to Information Science - Fundaments and Key Assets

Information science comprises the fields of collection, documentation, classification, analysis, manipulation, storage, retrieval, movement, dissemination, and protection of information. The key to information science is a solid understanding of knowledge and its context for day-to-day application. The lecture series conveys advanced key qualifications and skills significant for scientific work, research, publishing, and management, in theory and practice.

The lecture series creates a consistent context based on solid fundaments from knowledge to cognition, indispensible long-term aspects of information and holistic context, scientific insight, systematics, methods, decision making, and best practices.

The lectures foster an advanced understanding from integration of essential scientific fundaments and emerging technologies, e.g., mathematical machines, languages, programming paradigms, digitisation, data and information management, algorithms, realisations, artificial "intelligence", and application scenarios. Participation in this lecture is required for participating in consecutive, advanced lectures. Three days compulsory attendance (6+6+6 hours, plus time for optional and voluntary contributions)

For details, please see: www.luis.uni-hannover.de/information_science_fundaments.html

Dates: November 7, 8, and 14, 2019, 14:15 - 18:00

Alternative dates for repeated event: November 7, 8, and 14, 2019, 14:15 - 18:00

Self-assessment; Active colloquial contributions; Certificates.

Target audience: The lecture series addresses to participants from all disciplines, spanning natural sciences, humanities, applied sciences, medicine, legal and management disciplines. Pre-conditions for participation are a solid background in education (especially non-technical, too) and the interest in improving facilities to abstract complex scenarios and to create methodological, systematical, and practical approaches.
