Photography Competition

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION 2020 "A GLOBAL HOME!"

Extension of the deadline until 30.06.2020!

Nowadays home can be found far beyond your own four walls. Never before has it been possible for past generations to transcend distance so quickly and easily, even virtually. Home has never been more vast than today. Why should a person remain in one place? A semester abroad is a journey into the unknown, but at the same time you realise the unknown becomes more and more familiar. Gradually, you will feel like you have settled in, and new routines and habits will begin to form. You begin to notice that for as many differences as there are, there are equally as many similarities.

If you have the courage and willingness to take the plunge, you will see that a little bit of home can be found anywhere. This can be captured for an eternity in pictures of culture, people and special moments. When the physical and conceptual distinctions of home become blurred, you can settle anywhere.

This is likely difficult to imagine at the moment as a result of the current situation and the travel restrictions that have been in place for several weeks due to the coronavirus.  However, now especially, we would love to learn more about special moments you have experienced whilst spending a period abroad and to spread a little optimism for the future.

A semester in a different country, at a different university, with different students not only enables you to expand your horizons, but also to acquire new expertise. Thanks to the standardisation of bachelor’s and master's degree programmes, it has become easier for students to incorporate a stay abroad into the standard period of study. Various funding programmes provide help with financing studies abroad.

As part of our photo competition, we invite you to share personal impressions of your time abroad. What was particularly memorable? What exceptional moments do you associate with this time? What did you encounter? Show us your perspective!
