Research Profile

Interdisciplinary pooling of outstanding individual achievements at Leibniz Universtät Hannover characterises our approach to making excellent research internationally visible. This is reflected, for example, in our fundraising and participation in two clusters of excellence (EXC), seven collaborative research centres, eight DFG-funded research training groups (GRK) and eight ERC grants.

The established key research areas: Biomedical Research and Engineering, Quantum Optics and Gravitational Physics (1st place - optics, quantum optics and physics of atoms, molecules and plasmas (DFG Funding Atlas 2015)), Production Engineering (2nd place – mechanical and production engineering (DFG Funding Atlas 2015)) and Interdisciplinary Studies of Science are characterised by excellent, internationally-recognised research achievements, outstanding support for young researchers and successful acquisition of coordinated projects of significant scientific and social relevance.
