A school internship lasting at least four weeks must have been completed at a school of vocational education.
For the subject Spanish, a study-related stay abroad of three months is required.
Spanish is offered as a teaching subject (or supplementary teaching subject) within the degree programme Master’s Teacher Training Course for Technical Education. As a first subject, a vocational subject must be studied.
Spanish is the fourth most commonly spoken language in the world, spoken by some 450 million people across four continents. After completing the preparatory phase of teacher training at a school, those who study the teaching subject of Spanish Studies in the Master’s Teacher Training Course for Technical Education (Master LBS) may teach this language as well as Spanish literature and culture at a German vocational school. Four semesters is the standard period of study for the Master’s Teacher Training Course for Technical Education. Students require a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in a vocational subject area and the teaching subject of Spanish to be admitted to the Master’s Teacher Training Course for Technical Education. The Ordinance on Master’s Degrees for Teacher Training in Lower Saxony (Nds. MasterVO-Lehr) specifies provisions relating to subject combinations that must be observed.
Those who study Spanish Studies examine the linguistics, literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. In addition to these three core areas, students also learn teaching methodology. They also develop their language skills to university level.
Education sciences as well as vocational and business education play a major role in the Master’s degree programme.
The Master’s degree programme places a particular emphasis on education sciences and teaching methodology. In addition, students expand on their Spanish language skills. Those who take Spanish Studies also take a specialisation module in literature or linguistics. They also study advanced teaching methodology and complete practical training at a school. The Master’s thesis module involves attending a colloquium in which students reflect on their topic and receive support in the writing process.
