Measures extended until 10 May 2020

Dear students,

Many of you eagerly anticipate news on how we will proceed at Leibniz University Hannover from Monday 4 May and whether current provisions - such as for accessing buildings - in place until 3 May will be modified.

After intensive discussions, the Presidential Board and the emergency committee have decided to extend all measures until Sunday 10 May 2020.

As you may have heard in the news, provisions and decisions implemented in the context of the coronavirus pandemic will not be relaxed until 6 May. In addition, the contact rules currently in place will apply until 10 May. Prospectively, new measures will be announced next Wednesday. The federal states will discuss, agree on and implement a course of action, which must then be adjusted to the situation at our university. In view of this, university management has decided that it is not possible and appropriate to adapt any provisions at this time. For detailed information on specific topics, please refer to our website at www.uni-hannover.de/corona.

Furthermore, the website illustrates overall hygiene measures that have been established to resolve important issues in the context of dealing with the coronavirus pandemic in the workplace and at the university. With regard to examinations scheduled to take place from mid-May, additional hygiene measures will be developed taking into account the situation. As always, the health of students and staff will be our highest priority.

Moreover, I am delighted that we have succeeded in finding suitable formats for digital learning and many other services that are now available online in order to facilitate everyday university operations for our students in a professional and positive manner.

In addition, please refer to the press release issued today by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which provides information on interim support available for students experiencing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic.
