Message from university management to LUH students

Dear students,

In light of the corona pandemic, opening Leibniz University Hannover is only possible to a limited extent since legal requirements regarding hygiene and distancing must be observed. However, the Presidential Board of Leibniz University Hannover has decided to set up study areas in the atrium of the main university building (“Lichthof”), which will be available in August and September. With this measure, we aim to address the increasing demand for such areas – in particular during the examination period – while illustrating that solutions will be developed wherever possible in terms of organisation and infrastructure.

These study areas will be available for a maximum period of three hours. Time slots may be booked via Stud.IP. I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to comply with any instructions given by the members of staff responsible for managing study areas in the “Lichthof”. Acting with caution will be crucial to ensure the well-being of all those involved. Thank you!

Please register via the booking portal: https://www.zqs.uni-hannover.de/de/qs/lernraum/buchung/

In addition, I would like to remind you that the PC lab on the second floor as well as the study areas on the fourteenth floor on Conti-Campus have been opened by the respective faculties and may be accessed by students of all faculties. Spaces must be booked in advance.

See FAQ 3.1.1: https://www.uni-hannover.de/en/universitaet/aktuelles/corona/#c68255

Furthermore, faculty-specific solutions for providing study areas are currently being assessed. Following the approval of appropriate hygiene measures, community areas (“Saalgemeinschaften”) at IK-Haus on Campus Maschinenbau have been reopened. For further information, students in the field of mechanical engineering should send an email to saalsprecher.ok-haus@maschbau-hannover.org. For the time being, spaces must be booked in advance. As an alternative to OK-Haus (Im Moore 11b), where construction work is currently in progress, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has rented office spaces formerly occupied by Sparkasse located at Engelbostler Damm 71. Due to the current situation, time slots for these study areas must be booked in advance. In addition, contacting the students responsible for managing these spaces is strictly necessary (Mr Schröder: c.schroeder@maschbau-hannover.org and Mr Maltzahn: vfvmaltzahn@gmail.com).

Moreover, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science will open additional study areas. For further details, please refer to the website of the respective faculty.

Finally, I would like to address an important matter: Please cancel your booking if you no longer need it so that your fellow students can make use of that time slot. Thank you for your solidarity!

Yours sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Volker Epping
President of Leibniz University Hannover
