Dear students and colleagues,
As announced last week, I would like to provide some information on the upcoming semester.
We expect that the pandemic will become less severe in the spring and that the situation will continue to normalise. Provided that this is the case, summer semester 2022 at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) will take place on campus. On-campus learning is a fundamental aspect at LUH, even though we intend to maintain didactically relevant elements of online learning in order to complement on-campus learning. For this reason, hybrid learning and therefore choosing between on-campus and online formats will only be possible in some instances, not across the university.
3G access and access wristbands
Access to LUH buildings in the summer semester will still be restricted to those complying with the 3G rule. Consequently, only vaccinated, recovered or tested students and members of staff will be permitted to enter LUH.
In order to facilitate access, LUH access wristbands in a different colour will be available. However, due to the dynamic nature of political adjustments with regard to the validity of the vaccination and recovery status, university management has decided that access wristbands will only be issued if a booster vaccination has been administered. Therefore, access wristbands will only be available if any of the following cases apply:
- You have received the first and second dose plus a booster vaccination.
- You have received one dose of the Johnson&Johnson vaccine and two additional vaccinations.
- You have recovered from a COVID-19 infection and have subsequently received two additional vaccinations.
- You have received one dose, have then recovered from a COVID-19 infection and have subsequently received one additional vaccination.
- You have received two doses and have subsequently recovered from a COVID-19 infection.
As usual, compliance with the 3G rule among students will be checked at the entrances; supervisors will check compliance among members of staff.

Vaccination opportunities and vaccination centre
Region Hannover continues to offer vaccination opportunities at LUH. For further details, please refer to information provided to all university members or to our website.
Moreover, the vaccination centre in the main cafeteria (Callinstraße) continues to be available, currently from Monday to Friday between 9.00 and 16.00. Current opening hours can be found here.
Furthermore, the vaccination centre offers vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11 – on 09.02., 16.02. and 23.02.2022, between 16.00 and 20.00.
