In March 2015, the Presidential Board of Leibniz University Hannover approved the development of an integrated climate protection concept. The one-year development process began at the start of 2016. It included the generation of an energy and CO2 balance; the participation of stakeholders in the discussion and development of areas of action; the analysis and preparation of scenarios; the development of an implementation, communication and monitoring concept; and the presentation of a catalogue of activities.
You can obtain a copy of the 2016 concept, the accompanying catalogue of activities and the reporting from 2019 from the Green Office team. In 2022, an update and expansion of the Integrated Climate Protection Concept was approved. This update was carried out by the Green Office team and members of the Senate’s Sustainability Working Group. The basis for the update was the university’s decision to commit to achieving climate neutrality by 2031 as part of the Guideline on Climate and Environmental Protection. The amended version was noted and approved by the Senate at the end of 2022 and published at the beginning of 2023.
