PhD students' representation

The PhD students' representation represents all faculties of Leibniz University Hannover as well as the Leibniz Research Schools, which have been granted the right to confer doctorates. The PhD students' representation facilitates an interdisciplinary and inter-faculty exchange on matters relating to doctoral studies. It thus contributes to further promoting a transdisciplinary, cooperative and international doctoral culture at Leibniz University Hannover.

Structure

The PhD students' representation sends one representative to the Senate and one representative to the Executive Board of the Graduate Academy. The Spokesperson's Council represents the PhD students' representation externally.

Elections

The PhD students' representatives are elected every two years in January. The term of office of the elected representatives begins on April 1 of the year in which the elections took place.

The regulations of the PhD students' representation (in German)form the basis of the doctoral students' representation. They are supplemented by the rules of procedure (in German) which the PhD students' representation adopted on 29.06.2017.

Miscellaneous

Together with the PhD students' representatives of eight other universities in Lower Saxony, the PhD students' representatives of Leibniz University Hannover have written an open letter on the amendment of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG). In the open letter, the PhD students' representatives call for a strengthening of the right of participation in higher education policy.
