Leaders have a major impact on how well individuals and teams do their jobs, on the development and implementation of organisational objectives and on staff satisfaction.

Discussions with the university’s staff in leadership positions showed that a guide to good leadership could be a useful resource. Consequently, in early 2013, the Presidential Board initiated a participatory process across the university to develop leadership guidelines. The ten leadership guidelines were adopted by the Senate in 2014 and complement Leibniz University Hannover’s mission statement on employee management.

The purpose of the leadership guidelines and the leadership roadmap is to raise awareness among both management staff and employees regarding the importance of leadership in achieving good outcomes for everyone in the workplace. It is also intended to help staff in leadership positions to excel in this respect. The range of diverse programmes for research, technical and administrative staff in leadership positions also support this aim.

Human actions live on in the effects they have.
