ERC Grants

The European Research Council (ERC) was established by the European Commission to fund basic, groundbreaking and visionary research in a bottom-up approach. Thus, it allows researchers to identify new opportunities and directions in any field of research. The scientific excellence is the key criterium. The ERC is funded from 2021 - 2027 through the EU Framework Program for Research & Innovation "Horizon Europe".

The ERC Advanced Grant aims at established, leading principal investigators, who have a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years. The ERC Consolidator Grants supports scientists with 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD, who want to consolidate their independence by establishing a research team or who recently created an independent, excellent research team and want to strengthen it. The aim of the ERC Starting Grants is the support of talented early-career scientist who are ready to start their own researcher group. The ERC Synergy Grants supports teams of two to four outstanding scientists working together and bringing different skills and resources to tackle ambitious research problem.
