Research Assistant (m/f/d) in the field of polymers and biomaterials

The Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant (m/f/d) in the field of polymers and biomaterials (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 65 %) starting July 1st, 2024. The position is limited to 3 years. The opportunity to do a PhD is given.

Tasks

The project deals with the design, synthesis, characterization and evaluation of self-assembling block copolymers for the fabrication of a biomimetic synthetic extracellular matrix for mammalian cells. In addition to chemical synthesis, methods such as 3D printing, electrospinning and mammalian cell culture are employed. The project is part of a local interdisciplinary research alliance with biologists, biotechnologists and physicians.

Employment conditions

The prerequisite for employment is a completed scientific university degree (Masters' degree or equivalent) in a relevant scientific field, preferably in Chemistry or Polymer Science. Ideally, you have sound knowledge and practical experience in the field of polymer synthesis and characterization as well as basic knowledge in the field of mammalian cell culture. Additionally, proficiency in English, both written and spoken, as well as solid IT skills are required. The ability to work in a team and a careful, independent way of working are generally expected.
