The Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) welcomes applications for the following position starting at the earliest possible date: Student Assistant in the field of “Commissioning of an OPC-UA server for a machine tool” (23 hours per month)
The fixed-term position is for a duration of 3 months for project-related reasons.
Your role
In the context of the energy efficiency of machine tools, precise knowledge of process forces and energy conversion is essential for the further development of manufacturing processes. In order to collect meaningful measurement data, preparations and tests for the collection of this data will be carried out in the near future as part of an industrial project. For this purpose, an OPC-UA server is to be retrofitted for the HSC 55 machine tool. This will be used to read machine parameters from the machine control system and make them available to the company's internal IoT network.
The area of responsibility includes support with:
- Programming the OPC-UA server
- Recording measured values via the OPC-UA server in parallel with the tests
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a motivated student assistant to join our team with immediate effect. The successful candidate must be enrolled at a German higher education institution in a degree programme relevant to the position.
In addition, we are looking for a candidate with the following:
- You have a good command of German
- You work independently and in a structured manner
- Very good programming skills are required
- Interest in machine technologies and control technology
