Workshops

  • Everyday communication in German

    You have already acquired some basic knowledge of the German language and want to strengthen your communication skills? You are interested in getting in contact with colleagues at the university? By participating in this course you can do both. You are invited to interact with each other in German in a relaxed atmosphere. At the same time you will learn German expressions, vocabulary and grammatical structures that you can immediately use on the three course dates. Planned are a movie night, a game night and cooking together.

    Required qualification: basic knowledge of German (A2)

    Target group: academic staff and lecturers from Germany and abroad with little knowledge of the German language

     

    Dates: September 15 and November 10 (6-8pm), and December 08 (5-8pm)

  • Introduction to German Academic Culture

    Finding your way around Do’s and Don’ts in German universities can be quite a task to master.

    What are the structures of Leibniz University? What can I expect from my supervisor? How does the publication process work? What is there to know about manners, ideas, customs and social behaviour in Germany and academic Germany? How can I improve my writing process especially when writing in a foreign language?

    This workshop aims at giving you answers and orientation for your doctorate at Leibniz University.

  • Research in international teams

    During this workshop we will focus on potential misunderstandings in international working environments and offer some support about how to manage such conflicts. You will learn a lot about intercultural commuication and the key to successful research work with colleagues from all over the world.

    The workshop takes place in English. The participation is free of charge.

The International Office offers on regularly basis German courses in cooperation with a language school in Hannover. These course are addressed to doctoral candidates and researchers who are affiliate to LUH.
