  • 06.07.2024 - Daytrip to Bremerhaven

With our regular day trips, we want to give you the opportunity to get to know cities together in a group that can be reached within a day from Hanover.

This excursion will take us to Bremerhaven, a city in the north of Lower Saxony, which is an exclave of the Hanseatic city of Bremen. We will take a harbour tour on foot, during which we will get to know the second largest harbour in Germany. We will then visit the “Klimahaus”, an impressive, interactive exhibition right on the harbour. This excursion will start very early and lasts the whole day.

Workshops

  • 23.06.2024 - Research in international Teams – Improve your Intercultural Competences

This workshop is all about intercultural communication and the key to successful research work with colleagues from all over the world. It is a great opportunity for international PhDs to learn more about the German way of communication and doing research but it is also important for German doctoral candidates who, although doing research in Germany, will have to work with people from all over the world. The workshop is nothing like a “boring” presentation but rather a pleasant sharing of experiences and searching for strategies on how to work best in an international environment.

The workshop is led by a intercultural trainer who has spent a lot of time abroad herself and has been running workshops at the International Office for many years. Participants in her workshop can not only improve their intercultural skills, but also learn a lot about themselves.

    Venue: International Office

Through visualization, interactive methods and discussions, you will have the opportunity to better understand your environment and make your future in Germany easier. This workshop is suitable for newcomers as well as for PhD students & PostDocs who have been in Germany for some time and want to broaden their understanding of Germany as an academic landscape.
